I bought a set of clones from a website. I had the shafts shortened by half an inch, but the lie angle was standard. I think the lie angle is too upright. Would it be correct for me to say, I can choke down on the club to make the adjustment for the too upright lie angle? i almost have too i think…otherwise my toe will be up at address and probably at impact…or i would have to keep my arms further away from my body to have the sole of the club evenly on the ground at address and (maybe impact?)
I’m trying to hold off on putting any more money into these clubs since they are only clones…I will eventually go get better clubs and have them fitted…but in the meantime….would i be right in really choking down on the club so that they will lie flat? I will probably lose alot of distance do to the clubs being played shorter…but im more focused on getting my ball to go straight….so choke up?

Golf Clubs Have To Be A Perfect Fit!
Filed Under custom golf | Comments Off
When it comes to golfing, not any old golf club will do for you. You know this if you have ever been on the golf course having make up for a club that is too long or not long enough. Besides adversely affecting you game, using golf clubs that do not fit your body can cause aches and pains after using them for a while. And if you are concentrating on making up for the poor fit of your clubs, then you probably are not focused on playing your best gold game.
That does not necessarily mean that you have to spend a lot of cash on custom-fit golf clubs, though. While custom golf clubs are one way to go, you can probably find what you are looking for at a good golf store. But there are some things think about.
Though the length of the club is important, it is not all you need to consider. Professionals say that the size of the grip of your club should be comfortable in your hands. For this reason, clubs for younger players and women usually have a smaller grip.
If you decide that a set of custom-fit golf clubs is the way to go, there are some things to know. The aim is not just to make sure that the golf club reaches from your outstretched hand down to the ground, but also to make the most of your body and build as well. Getting a set of golf clubs custom fit is a process that takes some time.
A proper fitting session should occur both indoors and out. The best custom-fit golf clubs should be tailored so that the way swing is considered. This can become a costly endeavor.
Although many golf club manufacturers will charge a high fee for the fitting session, many offer this service on a complementary, if you buy a set of golf clubs from them. While custom clubs are more expensive than a general set purchased from a shop or elsewhere, the cost will be worth it when you see the immediate improvement in your golf game.
Think about the shots that you have been making since you started playing golf. If you are taller or shorter than the average golfer, custom clubs can make all the difference.
You might be wondering how long it takes to get a set of custom golf clubs in your bag. Many manufacturers of custom golf clubs can offer delivery within a few days, or often no more than a few weeks.
There are few negative aspects of getting custom-fit golf clubs. If you want to buy them for someone as a gift, or resell them someday, custom clubs are probably not the way to go. More than likely, the golfer who is going to receive the custom clubs will be surprised enough to get the fitting session, and most who go to this expense and trouble do not usually sell them.
Investing in custom-fit golf clubs is entirely up to you. If you want to perfect your swing and are planning to buy a new set of clubs, custom clubs might be the best investment you can make!

The Case for Customized Golf Clubs -
Filed Under custom golf | Comments Off
Customized golf clubs have a lot of advantages over mass-marketed models. Some of these advantages are purely practical, while others are a bit more whimsical and decorative in nature.
Customized golf clubs can especially be beneficial to golfers who are shorter or taller than the average person. If you use golf clubs that were designed for people that are not close to your height you will have to make an adjustment to your swing and this will not be beneficial to your golf game.
Custom golf clubs may be the answer for the golfer looking to improve his game - at a reasonable price. Custom golf clubs are not just for the professional or highly skilled player. All golfers can benefit greatly from clubs that are fit precisely to the correct specifications of the individual golfer. But, Custom golf clubs are a huge investment, both financially and in your game. You will want to make sure the fitting is correct.
When customizing a set of golf clubs, be sure to check around your local golf accessory stores and perform price comparisons. It is also important that the staff take correct measurements so that your clubs are designed exactly the way you need them to be, and according to your body type.
When having a set of clubs fitted for customization, there are three major areas which goes into a fitting. They are the height, your arm length, and the swing speed. Let’s briefly touch on each below:
The Height
Taller men and women generally have more of an upright swing. If you are tall then the manufacturer will adjust the lie of your clubs.
The lie is determined from the angle that the clubhead extends from its shaft, which is connected like a hinge. This hinge will be closed slightly for taller people, and shortened a bit for golfers that may be on the short side.
The Arm Length
The arm length is an important factor that will determine the length of your shafts. When you are playing golf, you never want to have to crouch down unnaturally when gripping the club, nor is it desirable to choke up on the club either.
The fitting of your grip must feel perfectly natural. The customization process will include measuring the length of your arms, similar to that of a suit tailor. The measurement will be made by your arms against your sides, and the shaft length will be determined by the distance from the tip of your middle finger to the ground.
The Swing Speed
The kind of shafts your clubs will have will depend on your swing speed. Of course everyone has a different swing speed, which can depend on size, age, strength, etc.
Most professional golfers have steel shafts that are specifically designed stiff. They are extremely rigid and have very little flexibility when swung. On the other hand, average golfers are typically best suited to have steel shafts or granite shafts. Flexibility can then be measured by regular, women’s, or senior.
Titanium and other materials, along with innovations in the contact point, have greatly improved distance and accuracy of shots. Once you’ve mastered the basics of the game, custom golf clubs are a great tool to help you improve your performance.
Titanium is a lightweight yet very strong material that is perfect for golf clubs. Sometimes you will find titanium mixed with other materials.

Custom Golf Clubs: Fitting golf clubs
Filed Under custom golf | Comments Off
In addition every golfer’s physical capability and swing is idiosyncratic. Many of today’s top golf clubs can be custom fit for lie angle, shaft type and length, grip type and size. Custom fitting golf clubs involves assorted easy measurements and a fast self-assessment of your game. This custom golf club has become more than a fad that even not so professional golfers probe its waters.
Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it. Lou Holtz
Custom fitting is the means for tailoring a golf club to customize your personal swing.
Whatever your level, with a custom golf club the aim is to guarantee that if you do make a good swing, the club will be square at impact and should produce a straight shot.
Custom Golf Club How To’s:
To custom fit your golf clubs, you want to know: your gender (male or female); your height in your stockings or socks; the distance from your wrist (where it bends) to the floor with your shoes off; your age; your handicap or skill level; how fast you swing a golf club; what club you use at the 150 yard marker.
Gender is used to put you into the correct fitting scale for custom golf clubs. The golf industry uses varying definitions of “standard length” for men and women.
Your height and the distance in inches from your wrist to the floor are used together to determine the length of a custom golf club that is suitable for you. The starting point for club length can vary up to 3 ‘-inch ranging from ladies to men plus 1 ‘-inch. A tall person with long arms can very easily require shorter clubs than an average height person with short arms. About 80 percent of golfers are standard length.
Your age, handicap (if you happen to have one), self-assessed skill level, rough golf swing speed and club you use at the 150 yard marker are all combined to establish the custom golf club’s shaft flex that is appropriate for you.
Custom fitting can fix your slice. If you slice the ball it means that the toe of the club is leading into the ball which opens the face of the club. That may be down to a swing fault, but it could be because the club is too flat. So as part of the custom fitting procedure you can make the custom golf club more upright to help with this. This will mean that the toe of the club will be slightly off the ground at address to remedy.
There are alternate methods of fitting according to custom golf club manufacturers but ultimately they are all laboring to better your game. To begin with simple measurements such as wrist-to-floor, height and hand size are taken and will point you to the right size club and at what angle it should be to the ground. Then you will take a club and hit some balls. One method is to place impact tape on the bottom of the custom golf club and an impact board on the floor.
As you hit the ball the board will leave a mark on the tape showing whether the heel or the toe of the custom golf club is striking the floor first. The resulting mark will show whether the club face needs to be flatter or more upright. Then things get a bit more pioneering. Analysis equipment can measure everything from your club speed to the side spin of the ball so that you can get maximum distance from your shot. You can also measure the launch angle of the ball, how much backspin you generate and impact efficiency - all which affect distance. The angle in which the custom golf club approaches the ball and the sidespin of it can help fix your game too.
Rather than bringing down your old clubs, it might be better to start from scratch. It’s a big fallacy that custom fitting is only for good golfers. Anyone can benefit. That said, if you hope to upgrade a new set of clubs with the same manufacturer they may be able to adjust your old set to become custom golf clubs.
Custom fitting won’t remedy all your bad shots. Coaching will sort that out. But if you do make a good swing, then the custom golf club will arrive properly at impact and should produce a straight shot at your target. That alone will save shots during a round.
Lastly, custom fitting is often free of charge. But it is usually on the condition that you buy some clubs once you’ve been fitted. So it surely depends on what your budget is. If you’re ready to buy a new set of clubs it’s positively worth getting fitted.

Golf Swing Improvement - What You Can Do Now
Filed Under custom golf | Comments Off
It’s important to remember that your golf swing is what drives your score; it’s not your golf clubs or ball. If you’re like most golfers, you desperately want to improve your game, not just hack around the golf course willy-nilly. Still many golfers do play golf just to hack around and have some fun but the more avid players are always looking for ways to improve their golf swing and their overall game.
First of all keep the good positive energy flowing and don’t give in to any negative thoughts. Don’t worry about what others say about your swing; work to improve it at your own speed. A common mental error golfers make when driving the golf ball is to hit it as hard as they can. Understanding the golf swing is one of the first steps you can take toward improvement.
The back swing is a simple rotation to the right, consisting of a shift in the player’s body weight to the right side, a turn of the pelvis and shoulders, a lift of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists. The most important thing to remember about the golf swing is the angle, not the strength that’s applied to it, which is one of many of the secrets to a great swing. Have a little faith in your golf club to do the job it was intended to do.
Swing slowly and steadily using good rhythm and biomechanics. Sidespin happens when the clubface is not properly aligned perpendicularly to the plane of the swing. Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the ‘yips’ has affected not only amateurs but many golf professionals. Get expert advice from the pros and consider a golf swing trainer.
Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to steer the ball around obstacles or they head toward the safe side of fairways and greens. Putts and short chips are ideally played without much movement of the body, but almost all of the other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing. Many golfers who are left-handed prefer the right-handed swing.
When you swing, use the large muscles in your legs and trunk and if you have problems with your left knee buckling imagine holding a volleyball between your knees.
Many golfers should exercise but don’t. Do turn to golf exercises if you want more strength and power. Workouts with straight crunches will not improve your swing or driving distance though. Instead concentrate on weighted rotational exercises. The proper swing is mostly rotational so it really makes sense to concentrate on your turning ability as it relates to the range of motion and speed. Try using a weighted club so you can make rotational swings to improve your power.
Overall, investing in golf trainers or aids will greatly improve your swing and your game, many say. But it may or may not work for you. If you’re looking for an aid to improve your stance they’re easy enough to find. There are lots of good aids on the market today.
Golf swing trainers and aids can often be found online and are often much cheaper. They are often available for sale at most pro shops or local golf shops. There are a wide range of aids and golf analyzers on the market today to help the beginning and advanced golfer improve swing techniques.
There are aids that’ll help you with your swing alignment. Make sure to look for golf swing trainer reviews and ratings online or offline for any you’re considering. In any case, stick to just one aid at a time.
Now get out on the driving range with all your custom golf clubs, golf bag and other equipment as often as you can. Buy some golf videos or DVDs and some golf swing software if you’re so inclined and commit yourself to a time to practice what you’re learning. There are hundreds of free and simple golf tips in consumer and sports magazines, in golf books, ebooks, software and DVDs online and offline. Finally it’s important to just try to relax and enjoy the game. Practice, practice, practice and you’ll get the perfect, super golf swing!

Filed Under custom golf | Comments Off
Always dreamt of playing like Tiger woods, well then you better start with taking some golf lessons. If you notice closely at the golf balls used by celebrities and professionals, you will notice they either have the name of the company sponsoring them or backing them. These personalized golf balls are what sets them apart from the rest of the fraternity. Not only are these balls specially made, but also mean a lot to the players and organizers.
Golf ball manufacturers, have begun cashing in on the trend evolving with the times and today have come up with the concept of personalized golf accessories. These are aimed at being given out during golf-related celebrations, or maybe at the various annual tournaments held across the world. These balls will have either names, symbols or words that are upto seventeen characters and mostly done in English. It could be only alphabets or could include numbers as well. They are printed with blue, black , red or green ink, but there are some companies that offer silver or gold color prints as well. Th e only thing the person getting the personalization should remember is that the words will not be very visible from a distance, and its only their borders that will get highlighted in bright colors.
Sometimes these balls with a special messages inscribed on them become thoughtful gifts for family and friends during special occasions. Sending out a box of these to your client during their anniversary, or to a friend who’s always wanted to play golf is a wonderful way of lighting up their lives. Hopefully, they will not lose these golf balls, as personalized means difficult to replace. An order for personalized golf items will take anywhere from 4 to 7 working days, and shall then be delivered to the address specified by the person placing the order. At times, if the company is unable to comply with your request, they just might turn down your offer and you will have to seek another manufacturer.
These personalized golf balls provide the player with the comfort of knowing he has his own equipment when driving into a range for a game. He does not have to depend on the club to provide him the required tools to enjoy a game. It does come at a price, but today, people are willing to shell out hundreds of dollars and get a customized golf set just so they create an impression in the mind of the other person. Also, these balls give you an added advantage of choosing the weight which will help while swinging a shot, when you can get a bit more distance and control. However, harder balls can convert power of stroke easily. Even if you are someone who has not had much experience playing this sport, with these lighter clubs or balls, you can gain a good handicap. With practice, you will be playing like the pro within no time and competing in tournaments around the world.
