golf equipment
The Sports HQ asked:

This reaction from the retail industry was triggered after two of the industry’s largest manufacturers, Callaway Golf and Acushnet Co. recently posted below average results for the second quarter – a period that is usually one of the most prolific in the calendar for golf equipment manufacturers. Fortunately, both manufacturers experienced considerable growth overseas in Q2, allowing both Callaway and Acushnet to offset the U.S. decline against foreign growth in sales.

Unseasonal weather conditions in key golfing areas has also affected golf equipment sales in addition to new USGA restrictions hindering product development.

Golf equipment manufacturers and retails agree that consumers are delaying the purchase of significant items such as complete golf sets – Callaway has recently dropped the prices on many of its high-end lines to spark consumer spending. Callaway was also responsible for incentivising golfers who purchased a golf driver with $100 of free petrol

This seasons latest innovation, adjustable golf clubs, has received a poor take-up from consumers who are finding it hard to justify an initial outlay of up to $1,000. Forgan of St. Andrews, an online custom fit website is offering a complete custom fit service on its latest range of golf clubs – including the impressive looking series three, triangular driver. Massive discounts are typically applied towards the end of a season to make way for new lines – something which couldn’t come quick enough to spark demand in the market.

Callaway Golf for example has announced that certain lines from next seasons range will be available sooner than previously expected – a new driver from the golf clubs manufacturer is expected to launch in time for the holiday season.

The Sports HQ supplies factory direct golf equipment including golf clubs from leading manufacturers at up to 85% off full RRP.

ULooKWeiRD asked:

Ok so I’ve been starting to play a lot of golf lately and I bought some golf clubs. On the shaft of the clubs are some stickers also a couple on the head as well. They are either stickers of the brand or just a serial registration tag. Do we have to remove these stickers? Does leaving them on effect the flight of the ball? I know the simple answer is to “remove it” last time i did that it left a nasty looking sticky thing behind.
Thanks

Nicky Pilkington asked:

Golf is a great sport enjoyed by millions of people around the world. It is also one of the world’s most difficult sports, and for people with a tendency to become frustrated when things don’t go how they wanted them to, golf may not be the right sport for you.

If you’ve never played golf before, or played only crazy golf or only played on a small sized pitch and putt course with a seven iron and a putter, a game of golf on a full sized course is a different ball game. Not only do you require more golf clubs, but you require more patience, and also more energy to take you around the full course.

So if you’re going to play on a full sized golf course and don’t have any clubs, what do you do, you can either:

A: Go to your local golf shop, purchase the most expensive clubs you can find and when you find out you can’t play like Tiger Woods with them wish you’d have bought some cheaper ones.

B: Rent some clubs or borrow some from a friend.

C: Buy some reasonably priced used golf equipment from somewhere.

If you have never played golf before and are not sure you’ll like it, it is recommended that you borrow a set of clubs from a trusting friend who will need much reassurance they will come back in one piece. If however you have played golf before and you like the game, you may wish to consider purchasing some used golf equipment.

Simply because you are playing on a full sized golf course, this doesn’t mean you need the full amount of clubs. For beginners, a 3 or 5 woods, a 3 iron, 5 iron, 7 iron, sand wedge and a putter should suffice. As for other equipment a second hand golf club bag with a shoulder strap, or if you prefer, a set of wheels will be ideal for a days golfing.

When purchasing second-hand golf clubs it is important that the face of the clubs don’t have many dents and deep scratches in them as this can affect the course of the ball. Also be sure to check close to the grip and the head of the club on the shaft to ensure there are no signs of rusting, and finally, look down the clubs like a telescope and twist them to ensure they aren’t bent or warped.

Golf Equipment Isn’t Working

Filed Under custom golf | Comments Off

Mike Pedersen, Cpt asked:

Golf equipment doesn’t work? Did that catch your attention? I hope so. Now keep reading.

Just the other day I was watching the Golf Channel and they were talking yet again about the latest and greatest drives and irons. This golf equipment (new technology) that has gotten totally out of hand, is making these companies a ton of money.

Why?

Because they prey on vulnerable, frustrated golfers looking to play better through golf equipment.

Here’s my beef!

It’s not working! I don’t care what these companies say…I see golfers everyday, buying new golf equipment and STILL not playing any better. It’s a known fact that the average golf handicap has not gone down in over 20 years!

It’s NOT the equipment that’s going to improve your game…it’s YOU!

You swing that club. You show up to the range or course. It all depends on your current physical condition how well you will swing…and especially for 18 holes.

Is that registering with you yet?

How many new clubs have you bought lately? Did it allow you to play better…consistently? Be honest. Don’t let your pride answer that question. Just state the facts. Are your scores lower? Do you swing with better consistency?

These are questions to constantly ask yourself to make sure you are seeing progress. If you’re not…then save your money and get working on YOU!

It’s always fun to see the new golf equipment that’s coming out…but your game is dependant on your physical capabilities, not compensations with golf equipment.

Captain_Ahab_ asked:

I see all these characters with enormous drivers and exotic metals and remember there are USGA rules about certain limits on equipment. For example, you can’t have a club that plays left- or right-handed, unless a putter. But is is legal to have a driver the size of a volkswagen?

Prefer the small sleek kind myself.

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

There are many things to think about when looking at the purchase of Junior Kids Golf Equipment. Of course, in Golf adults do outnumber children when it comes to how interested they are in the sport, or not. However, this may come as a surprise, but there is more choice available in Junior Kids Golf Equipment than there are in adult equipment. The reason for this is to attract more children to the sport of Golf by making the equipment more interesting and appealing. This will hopefully arouse more interest in children and raise their curiosity in the game. Parents when trying to attract their children to a certain sport, will have to make it more appealing to them. One way is to pick out equipment which has appealing images, that are likely to capture their child’s interest or looking at the different colour schemes and picking out ones which their child would like.

Junior Kids Golf Equipment are usually designed with children’s thoughts in mind, such as images or similarities to the popular cartoon characters.

Current television shows and programmes usually feature characters which are then depicted on items suitable for children, which makes them more saleable. This will also usually have an effect on the price that is charged on the Junior Kids Golf Equipment. Those items that have the more popular pictures adorned on them will be reflected in the prices which are usually inflated, since these are usually more popular and children will prefer to pick out these items for themselves.

Children will usually pick these items, even if the materials used to make them are not the best available. Usually parents will find that to buy this equipment for their children, it would be more cost effective to find them on the internet where prices are lower due to competition. They will find that department stores will usually sell the equipment for a lower price than what they would sell them for instore, so saving them time and money. The same goes for sports goods departments which offer Junior Kids Golf Equipment for consumers. Manufacturers recognise the trend of the market especially for children, so a theme that has just come out will mean that they can inflate their prices as the items are very desirable; parents are more likely to spend money on buying these if this is what their child wants and know that it will be appreciated more.

Parents always find it a challenge to get the child interested in certain sports, so if they want to get them excited about golf, it is useful to find equipment with images in what their child is interested in. Having their favourite character on their Junior Kids Golf Equipment will raise their interest in the game. By giving them something to be interested about on their equipment, they are more likely to want to go out and play golf and be interested enough in the sport, and eventually they will want to play by themselves when they have spare time. Watch their interest grow as they become more familiar with their own personal equipment and enjoy their game of Golf.
