custom golf
wataru210 asked:

Hi all,
I’ve been playing on and off for about a year or so mostly ranging and playing at our local course only a handful of times, but I was wondering if I would benefit from custom golf clubs (having them shortened, lol).

I am short at 5′5″ and feel that I have to get everything just right to get good contact. Of course, I am fairly certain that my lack of skill has to do with a lot of it, but I feel that I find myself hitting always better shots when choking up on my grip about an inch or so.

Oh, and btw I am a man, therefore I wouldn’t want to use a Ladies set, even though the shorter clubs would probably benefit me.

So my question is, whether I would benefit from getting shortened golf clubs. I’ve seen a few posts about tall guys getting longer clubs, but would it help us short guys also?

Thanks in advance.
Thanks for all the replies. I apologize if I sounded condescending in any way regarding the clubs. Actually, I have a fairly new set of Callaway X-18’s that I rather stay with. I was wondering whether I should cut those down, or switch to something else (but like I said, I think it’s more me than the clubs, so I’d like to stick with what I have). Anybody have any ideas how much that would cost?
EDIT: that’s condescending regarding the LADIES clubs

Rebecca

Yeah you could buy men’s regular clubs and then you could have them cut down at your local golf shop.

Yeah, listen to Tim F… most everybody will benefit from a custom fitting (even if just mentally!). Have it done.

Btw, nothing wrong with playing with ladies’ clubs. Many are just mens’ clubs with slightly shorter, more flexible shafts anyway.
